When finishing a knit T-shirt neckline with a neckband, determining the correct length is essential for a polished look, especially if you don’t have a pattern piece or specific measurements provided.

To calculate the length of your neckband, start by measuring the circumference of the neckline on your T-shirt. Multiply this measurement by ⅞ (85%).

Then, add your seam allowance to this number to determine the final length of your neckband.

For instance, if your neckline measures 10 inches, your neckband length would be 8 ½ inches plus an additional ½ inch to account for a ¼-inch seam allowance on each end of the neckband.

As for the height, a 1 ¾-inch neckband height is our preferred choice, ensuring a neat and comfortable finish
